Situated close to Manuka and Parliamentary Triangle in an upmarket Inner South traditional home, we offer one large bedroom in a wing of our home. (Now empty nesters!)
The room has a Queen bed,A/C, Wifi, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and access to a nearby frig. The second room (when available) has a double bed. There is a Bathroom and toilet in this wing. Hair dryer and toiletries are provided. There is no separate entrance and guests use the front door
Surrounded by traditional gardens and many European trees, you can enjoy the 4 seasons that Canberra offers. A local feature are various hedges which give privacy and elegance to our home and others.
Guests enter through the Front door and will be given a key if necessary for access.
The host is happy to do any laundry, time permitting. An iron and board are in the laundry.
Manuka, the famous boutique and bistro precinct, is a short walk - about 1k through the park. There is a supermarket, post office, petrol station and cInemas as well as a great choice of restaurants, bars, coffee lounges and sidewalk cafes. Manuka Oval is nearby. The Lake is a further kilometre walk.
Parliament House is a 4 Minute drive (25 minute walk )as are other tourist sites such as the Australian National Gallery and Old Parliament House and just across the Bridge is the CBD and the Australian War Memorial.
There is plenty of on street parking. It is a quiet street which is enjoyed by the beautiful native birds that frequent our trees.
There is a bus stop at the end of our street which takes you to the Civic Centre via Manuka and Kingston. It also takes you to The Canberra Hospital in the other direction.
We welcome guests with children however they must be supervised at all times. Unfortunately we cannot have animals as we have 2 cats. (One is typically curious! )
This is a non smoking residence but we do allow smoking outside
Complimentary drinks are on hand. Toiletries are provided if needed, stationery, local maps,etc. first aid needs and there is a hairdryer in the bathroom drawer
We have lived for decades in Canberra and can assist you with directions or suggestions and historic details. Bruce is an historian. We are both fully trained in First Aid. I speak French and some German and a little Italian.
We look forward to meeting guests and making them feel comfortable and welcome!
We respect your privacy in your wing, as we expect guests to respect ours. You are welcome to use the formal lounge room and outdoor areas, pool and spa (you need to request the spa or the open fire in advance)
